Klaus Steinhaus was born in Germany, starting his first aquarium in 1956 in which he kept guppies and platies. His interest turned to cichlids in 1967 and has specialized in African cichlids, while currently also keeping South American cichlids. He joined the German Cichlid Association (DCG) in the mid 1970s and became involved with a regional chapter where he started writing articles for their publication. He sold all his fish and equipment before moving to Canada, early 1980s. Klaus was a member of the Durham Region Aquarium Society. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this time.
