Frank has been a tropical fish enthusiast
since the age of five. He began by helping his mother
raise pond goldfish in his homeland of Mexico. He set up
his first aquarium at age seven. By the age of ten, he
became an assistant at a small aquarium shop. During his
teenage years, he learned the techniques and “secrets”
of breeding from master breeders in Mexico City. In
preparation for his career choice as a biologist, he
went to the Polytechnic College in Mexico to study
aquaculture. He then pursued a bachelor's degree in
Biology. His ultimate academic goal is to obtain a
Masters Degree in Ichthyology at Guelph University.
His life has been dedicated entirely to the study of
fishes, with particular emphasis on reproduction and
genetics. After publishing many papers and articles in a
variety of magazines, Frank's next project, a book on
tropical fish is a logical step. His repertoire varies
widely in topic, ranging from the common to the unusual.
As the president of
Acuaprof Inc.
Frank is now fully integrated in
to the aquarium business and supporting the hobby trough
his activities as member of the Canadian Association of
aquarium Clubs CAOAC.

Altum's.
This presentation deals
with the myths and truths about the always controversial
Altum Angels, With Frank’s solid background in Angel
fish reproduction this presentation promises to bring
your audience wild. Angelfishes been an all time
favourite and this presentation brings surprising
findings from all over the world. The last update in
2008 was by no other than Heiko Bleher the legendary
German explorer. Finally Frank and Heiko meet bringing
the two experts together for the first time.
Synodontis
Catfish.
In this presentation
Frank describes this particular group of catfishes from
Africa; thru the presentation concepts about ecology and
preservation as well reproduction are discussed in a
simple manner making it affordable to any aquarist
regardless on level of knowledge.
Goldfish.
This presentation deals
with the goldfish and its origins in old China,
varieties and the origin of the many strains available
are discussed also pointing out the importance of the
goldfish as the real originator of our modern hobby.
Salt water
Basic Elements and Marine Angels Part 1.
This presentation deals

marine ecosystem. Breaking away from the common mistakes
and mythology surrounding the hobby Frank explains with
particular clarity for the audience how easy is to keep
and maintain saltwater fish and invertebrates following

1 which deals with one group of Marine Angelfish. There
is a discussion on husbandry and requirements to keep
marine angels fish healthy and perky for many years.
Piranhas and
relatives.
This presentation is
about one of the most mythological freshwater creatures
ever… Piranhas had conquered the imagination of millions
due to the exploitation of their well know ferocity at
feeding time. In this presentation the piranha group is
discussed as well some close relatives of the family
well know for their high level of aggression or the
complete opposite.
Plecos the L
numbers.
This award winning
presentation deals with the L numbers. The L numbers are
denominated in such way after a proposed classification
using the L letter from Loricaridae the family that
groups these fishes. Originated in Germany the L
classification helps to give some sense to collectors
and hobbyists alike trying to put some order to the
complex group formed by loricarids. As new
discoveries in the South American rain forest come along
more species are added to the list. Especial mention in
this presentation is given to the reproduction and
habits of the L 46 Zebra pleco.
Fresh water
stingrays.
Fresh water stingrays are
fascinating creatures, ancient and millenarian stingrays
are fishes that evolve from the oceans to conquer new
territories in fresh water streams and rivers. This

there is been and explosion in the commercialization and
interest from this group either as a stand along or
forming part of the reef systems so popular on these
days. The presentation deals with the care and
maintenance of tridacnas in full detail.
